whilst researching photojournalism on the internet i came across a project that was happening in Manchester, Open City Manchester; which is Cityco aiming to promote Manchester as a accessible photography destination, encouraging amateurs and professional photographers to take to the streets to capture the essence of the city.
the photography sessions where hosted by some of Manchester's well known photographer which were:
- Andrew Brooks
- Aidan O'Rourke
- Len Grant
- Paul Herrmann, and
- Mark Page
the photography day i attended was hosted by Mark Page, and we were taken to different places in the city centre including China Town and Piccadilly Garden amongst others. whilst there we were asked to try and not take pictures of obvious like the Manchester Wheel etc. and to try and show Manchester in a new light.
